mango ice cream

ive been wondering
how come jap food restaurants only serve green tea and mango ice cream
its logical that they hav green tea flavor coz its a part of their culture
but mango..?

according to MANGO Fruit Facts:
"The mango is native to southern Asia, especially Burma and eastern India. It spread early on to Malaya, eastern Asia and eastern Africa. Mangos were introduced to California (Santa Barbara) in 1880"

furthermore,
"Mangos basically require a frost-free climate. Flowers and small fruit can be killed if temperatures drop below 40° F (4.4° C), even for a short period. Young trees may be seriously damaged if the temperature drops below 30° F (-1.1° C), but mature trees may withstand very short periods of temperatures as low as 25° F (-3.8° C)"

this indicates that mango is not originated from japan nor is it suitable for its climate, with the possible exception in okinawa (In Naha, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture, the year-round average temperature is 22.6 ° C, and even during the winter the lowest monthly average is 13.6 ° C). (Nature and Climate) i hav not yet discovered any cultrual impact caused by mango (unlike green tea).
its unusual to me that mango ice cream is served so commonly in jap restaurants and has become an industrial standard sort of speak. it has become the norm; i imagine if any of us hav a meal in a jap restaurant and the waiter asks if we would like to hav strawberry or coffee ice cream, we wouldnt know how to respond.

its probably just the colour
green and orange makes an analogous colour combination
if green tea ice cream comes with strawberry, it just doesnt look good
